Cue the 'hallelujah' chorus

I heard back from a newspaper in California! Hallelujah (x 5)!

Did they offer me a job? No. But the fact that a living breathing human being personally responded to my application is reason enough for a little celebration. Yeah, kinda pathetic - but that's sorta what I'm living off of these days....

They sent me writing/reporting simulation test to complete via email. Wahooooooo....

Weekend flavor

I'll be away for four days - traversing the Bay area and San Jose for a friend's wedding this weekend and also for a roundup of relatives I haven't seen for at least 10 years. Good grief. I shall try and see if I can sneak in some job search stuff while I'm there - pick up some helpful tidbits on the newspaper industry/journalism scene on the west coast. Or at the very least pick up a paper or two. I've always been fascinated by what comes out of the San Jose Mercury News, or the Merc, as locals call it.
